Like Kudzu Vines

written by: Mark Tulin

Words become entangled spirits
Once cast from a vile mouth
They cling for eternity
Impinging on my sunrise
Hard-wired in my sleep
Emotions short-circuited
One synapse, then another
Triggering painful memories
Aspersions on my character
Flashbacks of hurtful glances
Heartbreaking rejections
Angry flames of fire
That grows like kudzu vines
Uncontained and invasive
Choking the moment
So I can’t breathe.
