Love Isn’t for Softies!
written by: Uzma Afreen
Waiting for that first prima facie
Of a love so golden
From the beginning to end
My jealous lover
Keeps the sharp eye on me
I never knew
Running the spectrum
Of all the colors
Deepest reds to violet hues
My emotions a rainbow
I could feel so much pain
And yet be so in love
After the storms
Of greys and blacks
in tempest’s clouds
That scudded my horizon
Picture perfect
Like a perfect storm
So lovey-dovey
We try to appear
Like that clear blue sky
In the cyclone’s eye
I saw myself
In torment and joy
a license of aggression
Splitting around
Romance is a fantasy
Took my emotions to ecstasy
Rolled me like a seesaw
Sometimes up
and sometimes down
In this crazy world
Love isn’t for softies
It’s a mystery
that got a license
to hurt and heal
Opposite of freedom is love
You lose your freedom
the moment you love
Love isn’t for softies
Love isn’t for softies
Love isn’t for softies
Sooner or later
It makes you vulnerable.
