Love Me

Love Me

written by: Sujata Dash

I am wild and crazy
a blossom in the midst of deep woods
craving to be loved by many

My sprightly self sips nectar from sunshine
as on when the mighty mountains
and the tall trees let the sparkle in

I am regaled
as the wavering light plays hide and seek with me
I squint and then open eyes
to get into the feel of it
wafting to the tunes of breeze
In the evening
I remain engrossed in timeless rhapsody
try hum a few lines

I am not a poet though
but appreciate a bard’s subtleties of endeavor

Moonbeams too titillate my being and core
soothe and calm
my parched demeanor
I try to count the number of stars
across the vistas of sprawling sky
but fail each time
as my rote learning of numericals
do not match up to the umpteen and numerous

When night deepens
howls and growls rule the sleepy universe
the wise old owl hoots at a distance
adding to the scare of atmosphere
I feign to be asleep
hide my face beneath the big bulky tree
peeping every now and then
to verify whether dawn is set

On days when the sun is sick
my prospects of blooming remains bleak
I lay buried inside the bud
dipped in pain and sorrow
yet do not give up hope
for a brighter and better morrow.
