Loved in the Spring

Loved in the Spring

Say you’ll stay
but not use me for spare parts.
Say you’ll love
and adore me as a whole.

There have been so many who came to drink from my veins
with promises and gifts,
only to leave my heart to drip dry on a line.
There have been so many nights I didn’t think spring would come
and fill me up with the much-needed rain.

I’d like to bud and blossom.
I’d like to stretch up to the sun.
I’d like to be admired,
nurtured,
instead of devoured.
