Phoenix

Phoenix

written by: Wolfgang H.

in love we trust
and love we lost
for reasons hard to fathom

was it a smell
a side way glance
a gentle touch that bound us

and was it a word
or the lack of it
that wiped the table clear

how deep we went
to form our cave
in which we got caught in comfort

how could we get lost
in this cocoon
where words have left us dry

we grew little spikes
to penetrate our skins
which left us too close for comfort

let’s find a whiff
of that ancient smell
to trigger emotions long gone

reach out and stretch
to find yourself
and look for that side way glance

what once was good may be gone for good
but something good may follow
