Running Scared

Running Scared

written by: Michelle Dark

Legs burning, muscles tight.
Canopies and dappled light.

Bare feet, cold earth,
leaves crunch beneath my tread,
running faster than before,
heart beat pounding in my head.

Legs burning muscles tight.
Canopies and dappled light.

Scratched flesh, eyes wide,
Birds sing from high above
Autumn Sky lets out a warning
Be afraid of too much love.

Legs burning muscles tight.
Canopies of dappled light.

Flowing stream, Eucalyptus,
Soon mosquitos start to bite,
Softly rain begins to settle,
Gather shelter for the night.

Legs burning muscles tight.
Canopies of dappled light.

Been running all this time,
Scared to death of loving you,
Questioning all your motives,
Saw that in your eyes you knew.

Legs burning muscles tight.
Canopies of dappled light.

Reach a clearing, can’t go on,
Doubled over breathing fast,
Stop myself from moving further,
Believe in love that’s built to last.

Legs stop burning muscles ache.
From your love there’s no escape.
