Snowperson

written by: Elizabeth Creaswick

I will not call you snowman, snowperson
A sentry who doesn’t protect
Stiff and resolute
Your world is solitude
I am jealous

Snowperson
Unaware of life inside
Inside, where voices bite and sting
A cold you couldn’t know

Snowperson
Always smiling
A foolish grin if you knew
Christmas might be better
If I spent it outside, still

Snowperson
Signaling to people
We are normal
Nothing to see here
Move on
I will move or melt
Like you
