So Ungrateful on Our Part

It is time we saw beacons of light,
Cropping up like mushrooms with a differing frequency.
It is time we came together to save Planet Earth,
The one who provides us with all our needs and comforts of life,
The one who brings solace in moments of grief.
Remember her bright blue sky covered with polluted clouds,
Her chalk-white beaches littered with non-biodegradable stuffs,
Her turquoise sea water where thousands of liters
Of chemicals are poured, threatening marine life.
Remember all these.
We cannot be so ungrateful on our part,
Remember this.
Pramila Khadun is a poetess from the Republic of Mauritius. To her credit, she has seven poetry collections, two novels and a third one in the process of publication. Her book 'Food and Nutrition Simplified' is used by Cambridge School Certificate students in Mauritius. It is a best seller in Mauritius and India. She won the Reuel International Prize for excellence in Writing and Literature in 2015. She has contributed in many international magazines and anthologies.
