Stay Off

Stay Off

Stay Off
the track. It’s too safe,
too cossetted. Venture

into a wild full of edge.
Into where you can’t see clearly.

Can’t touch earth, can’t hear much.
When you shout it is only

your own voice answers back.
Rely on your untrustworthy self.

Your stomach curls, every move means pain.
Look forward to scabs and scars.
