Campfire
written by: Sue Vanderberg
And the thunder rumbles and the days roll by
I carry on with just a little sigh
I walk a bit further through the brush
Until I hear that familiar hush
The secrets we keep
and the miles are way too steep
The trail is cumbersome and the trees are so tall
The longer you walk the more likely you will see the leaves fall
The rocks in the river are sharp
But that’s the only place to find a carp
Long after we are gone
The storm rages on
The campfire is warm
Even if you don’t conform
