A Thing I

A Thing I
Do.
Lick my finger and thumb
wet them for purchase
tease apart the opening
of a plastic bag she requests
to hold her items. She grimaces,
winces as opens the carrier
I pass to her, says “Sorry.
fingers being licked repulses me.
It is a thing I do.” She teases
apart the most innocuous
of my actions, opens them
for fresh thoughts.
