The Labyrinth

written by: Khalid Belkhalfi

I’m walking blindfolded in a dark labyrinth
heart is pounding to a point I cannot stand
Body is naked, I’m scared and I feel cold
I’m shivering and to my faith I cannot hold

I hear scary voices, whispers in my ears
I run to save myself and I’m full of fears
Hands are everywhere, harassing my body
I cry for help, save me please anybody!!!

I scratch the walls searching for an opening
My fingertips are bleeding and I’m hurting
Someone is whipping my back I’m in pain
Am I having a bad dream or am I insane

World is dark enough, give me back my eyes
Free my soul from this hate stop your lies
I’m not your slave, I was born to be free
Better die then live here, can’t you see

Happiness and peace are ancient memories
And hunger and thirst are my last worries
All I’ve done is dream of a peaceful halos
And green lands and colorful rainbows

I’m the father of the free, the mother of the wise
Turn off this fire, show yourself, no more disguise
My kids will follow your steps they’ll haunt you
And the sun will shine again and it will dim you
