The Rainbow Moon

The Rainbow Moon

written by: Cindy Georgakas

The rainbow moon called me tonight,
shimmering its prisms beckoning me to pay a visit.
I circled round and round until

I got the perfect shot.
It hovered right over the very place we blessed you
as your spirit took its place in the heavens.

I swear it happened like this.
You know me, I see through rose colored glasses,
but I’m not one for lacing or psychedelics.

Butterflies circled in the midnight sky
calling your name as I clicked. Things look different
to the naked eye our rainbow butterfly.

Ethereal being of light, circling me even if only
for a fleeting moment. While my camera deceived me,
your colors fluttered bright.

I closed my eyes and said goodnight and quickly
called your mother. She’ll be glad to know you made it
to the other side, safe and sound.
