The Road to Perdition

The road to perdition innocently begun
vagary ideas of what’s right or what’s wrong
It isn’t a matter of crimes of the flesh
not even illegal transgressions
punishable by law
The road to perdition begins as a thought
that sprouts in the mind
extending its tendrils
strangling the heart
Continuing to grow
capturing the spirit
indifference invades
minds, heart and souls
Ignoble affliction
tragic the end
the road to perdition
kills all that is good

Why write?
I write because I am:
Driven to distraction by the inequities of the society in which we live.
Motivated by cruelty, abuse, ignorance and indifference.
My intention: To poke, prod and provoke!
"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." - Oscar Wilde
