The Shadow of Mine

Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see –
Martin Luther King, Jr.
It chases me, cavorting hide n seek
as the night and day trail each other,
like sunlight dances between the trees.
Meeting the darkness when the dusk arrives,
until it melds and finally ebbs
against the backdrop of nothingness.
It never flees from me, but stays..
Like the stars during the day, overwhelmed;
by the dazzling gush of sun rays.
As young night flash n flies away
its tryst with me once more,
shouldering me like a comrade, adored.
An unsullied silhouette of me,
replica of my manoeuvres,
a lifetime companion.
