Tolling of Bells

Tolling of Bells

written by: PR Hebert

There is nothing these days
as dramatic as the tolling of bells
to draw attention to death
of one’s friends

It seems as if death
sneaks in and passes by
without a whisper

Months pass by before we become
aware of someone’s death.
How sad that events such as this
go unnoticed almost as if
they are of no consequence.

Relocate me to a casita
in San Juancito Honduras with my dog.
Rice and beans with a side of tortillas
and a block of queso auhmado cheese
I can survive and perhaps even thrive.
