Trauma

I hate it when people say get over it
Like you can snap a finger and the memory just magically disappears
You never get over it, no matter how hard you try
It’s always there, no matter what anyone says
Those who have never been hit head-on in a wreck don’t know what they’re talking about
Trauma doesn’t go away from that
Tell me how you’re supposed to get over being hit head-on and being bedridden or wheelchair-bound for months
The daily routines suddenly become a huge challenge during this time
Learning how to walk again isn’t exactly a piece of cake either
It hurts like hell at first but becomes easier as time goes on
Everything changes and doesn’t go back to the way it was before
Everyone who says you’ll be brand new and better than before doesn’t know everything
They’re just blowing smoke
You don’t go back to the way you were before you got three fractures in your pelvis
And if anyone tells you differently, they’re living in a delusion
