The Hottest British Summer for 42 Years
written by: Ian Fletcher
Ah, that glorious summer of ’76.
I remember it well, sunbathing in my garden, just before going up to university, full of hopes and dreams.
This year, we have another such summer, even hotter they say.
There is an abyss of time between these two summers spanning my life.
My career is ending, my dreams never quite fulfilled.
I wear a hat to keep off this sun, which with our knowledge of global warming and UV rays, seems more dangerous nowadays.
Reminiscing about that year of golden youth, the sun beating down on me seems to burn my very soul.
