Staring Out The Window
written by: Troy DeFrates
Yesterday I went out and stood in the rain
soothing my conscience, soothing my pain
if I could have melted, there would not have been a stain
the man I was no longer exists, fighting in vain.
I wanted us to be forever
Before you changed and became so cruel
There was nothing good you would recognize
you could not hide the anger in your eyes
then came the deception and the lies
in denial, I did not realize.
I wanted us to be forever
Before you changed and became so cruel
Spending money like it grew on trees
you deserved it, your mind had conceived
a false reality you came to believe
then came the violence and I had to flee.
I wanted us to be forever
Before you changed and became so cruel
Staring out the window at a gorgeous day
unable to focus, my thoughts do stray
to what we had and where we would be today
until you decided to take it all away.
I wanted us to be forever
Before you changed and became so cruel
