Blinded by the Luck

Blinded by the Luck

written by: Gerry Stefanson

being cheap / being fashion / being hunter
opportunity grinding to gain C’moi a buck
affiliated with charities, church foundation, goodwill store
of course, they can help underwrite / my monetized efficiencies
so much less, for so much more.

down the street around a corner /
gray-haired grannies volunteer
deep creaks in the floorboards / racks/stacks always more to fold
aisle three by clothing tree / coat rack / cashmere coat
full length / slight charcoal hue / belt to tie / double-breasted
silk scarf in sleeve / kid gloves inside pocket

asking fifty-five – offer thirty even.

granny claims brand new / never worn
fifty or walk / without this / I cannot survive
forty-two tall my size / perfect fit / not surprised
slight scent of moth balls.
Svelte, I stray out the door
scarf on neck / hand in gloves / goes to pocket
folded paper / official note

“Lt. Johnny not marching home again.”
