his mighty breath shakes the Carpathian conifers
angels caress the Black Sea with salty blue tears
yards of peat moss release threads of red energy
fire salamanders scream out in their volcanic rage
you will not put Ukrainians in your silencing caves
Archangel Michael stands in full armor and waits
innocents slain will pass through God’s pearly gates
