First Snowflake

First Snowflake

amber eyes gaze upwards
moon-wise, she crouches
still, silent, copper against
moon-bleached grass
dark-tipped ears flat
against earthen fur
she waits amongst last summer’s
teasels and skeletal hogweed
as cloud occludes moon
she watches
the first snowflake fall
