Flesh Wounds

Flesh Wounds

written by: Ms. Fish

This is not a love poem
in these lines you shall not find
words pontificating the thrill of amour
the intimacy of desire
the entangled flirtation of an affair
no, this is for those
who know too well
the other side of the sword
the lesion that passion emblazons on the skin
sorrow that saturates a broken heart
surgical separation of two people
flesh wounds
patiently waiting for scar tissue
longing for the day
when it doesn’t hurt to breathe
