Tongue Tied

Tongue Tied

written by: Ms. Fish

Maybe we just need more words
to deliver the audacity
of what longs to be said
an advocate for the faceless verb
a pronunciation that knows far more
than the tongue can taste
for they must be hiding under furniture
and sitting in street drains
wet and waiting
to be dried off and punctuated
adjectives slithering through gardens
sliding past the wild and raw Swedish turnips
if we name them, will they come?
Perhaps it is all that we need
to interpret one another
we just need more words
