I Won’t Be Long

I Won’t Be Long

written by: Dean Okamura

I may like one particular moment
better than —
many other events in life.

I cannot dwell tied eternal upon that instant,
for we cannot stretch
a point into the continuous curve crossed pilgrimage through existence.

Once lit, a candle consumes itself until its ephemeral fumes join the dust &
the candle is no longer a candle —
leaving in its past burning a time when it brought light into darkness.
