In Saving Sivvy

In Saving Sivvy

written by: Kenneth Vincent Walker

If only I could close my
Eyes, ever so tightly, and
Go back in time, back, to
The early 1950s; I’d track
You down, a weathered,

Worn, old hound dog just
Sniffing around your old
Stomping grounds to find
You, comfort you, before
Your first suicide attempt.

You were so brilliant and
Well read, and aspired to
Greatness since way back
When you were a bright-
Eyed child living along the

Ocean. Oh, what I believe
Would attract you to me,
No more than a friend or
Casual acquaintance, is
That I’m a fellow creative

From the future and my
Knowledge of what is to
Come you would find too
Irresistibly fascinating not
To inquire. And when I had

Told you of your ultimate
Demise, how you died, how
It remains subconsciously
Engraved within everyone’s
Mind and to a large degree

Overshadows your writing.
I had hoped I could make
You change your mind, save
Your life, but I couldn’t.
You wished so badly for it

To end this way in tragedy.
