Let’s Run Away

Let’s run away
just you and I
and climb above the hills
from where we’ll call the earth to stop
and cleanse itself from ills.
Below us mountains will burn and smolder
in fumes of orange glow
and at the grand cross of Here and There
will throw a wish to sow.
Come run with me
and climb above the meadows
come run with me and feel the air
wipe away our shadows.
Above the hills
just you and I
will spread our arms wide
and then the air will swish about
to take us on a ride.
Around us poppies will blush in bloom
and fields will glisten white
and at the edge of Here-to-Come
will watch an awesome sight.
Come run with me
let’s find a way
to bring a better day,
let’s run away
just you and I
and wipe away our shadows.
