Love is Always a Good Choice

Love that at a distance seemed to last forever
took heavy toll on our years and pulverized them,
crunching them into hours that disappeared too quickly
usurping them to kill our short lived minutes of love
Like dangerous fire on a cold and windy day
bad love scorches right down to our inner being
it feels worse than cold feet on warm feet
and destroys whatever good one might have planted
Learning to love like you’ve never loved before
Is a nice idea if you can pull it off
but can you make nice in a hail of irate words
and start a painful storm?
It’s always a good idea to fall in love
if for no other reason
than just to fall in love with love
and dispel the idea of whether true love exists
Getting the experience and lessons it teaches
are lessons everyone needs to mature
and receive the abundance of goodness carried by love
or maybe to suffer the consequences of bad choices?
Life offers many paths, many quandaries, full of choices
and it is those choices that sometimes cling
hanging on like burrs to ones backside
Making good choices, that’s key
