Love’s Serenity

The epitome of candid love
Lies in the arc of the dawn
That encompasses the sky
All in pink rose, in rhyme
With the serenity in our eyes.

Love is in the stream of music
That a cuckoo call lets flow free
From a bow armed with petals
That twine a fragrant garland
Around the Goddess Aphrodite.

In the tangibility of love wanders
The beauty of this sea of emotion
Which invokes in restless souls
A desire for intense togetherness
Among the weeds of loneliness.

A lover’s fond gaze at the shy night
Lures the heartbeats of the moon
And the chords wound at noon
Keep echoing tender heartaches
At each tune of the sweet music.

Love’s vision is reflected
In the embers of a cuckoo’s call
Which pinches a seductive heart
And blossoms a petal to strike
A balance between pain and joy.

Pramod Rastogi

Pramod Rastogi is an Emeritus Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is a Member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is the 2014 recipient of the SPIE Dennis Gabor Award. He is a Fellow of the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA), and a Distinguished Fellow of the Optical Society of India (OSI). He was Editor-in-chief of the international journal of Optics and Lasers in Engineering (Elsevier, Oxford) between 1999 and 2019. He is also a guest Professor at the IIT Gandhinagar, India. His poems have been published in international journals like Muse India, Mediterranean Poetry, The Beautiful space, Borderless journal, Indian Literature (accepted), etc.
