Mom, I can fly!
One flap of my arms
soars me into the sky.

Above a grandiose sea,
but only for an instance,
I crash headfirst

into a pale abyss,
the sensible side of me
seeing that I’m far from free.

A Black boy,
with all his chimeric reveries,
vanishing yet again.
