Sounds of Silence

Sounds of silence
wading through
a tangled mind,
tranquility found
when eyes rest

thoughts nestle
in a colored web
past’s pale pulse
speeds up- overpass
the distance shrinks

moored between
past and present
the silent stillness,
pulsating memories
dissolve the seams

thoughts conjure
a blissful collage:
placid silhouettes,
ceaseless gazes,
and a raging storm

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Most of my poems come from contemplation. Silence is a beautiful canvas where memories can brush silent portraits, words blend quietly and feelings come alive. We may think about ‘silence’ as being ‘quiet and still’ but silence can bring images and thoughts to the forefront. We can hear the unheard. As Wordsworth said, “recollection in tranquility” can bring many such joyful moments alive. We all need that calming of the mind to contemplate on some happy moments in this pandemic.
