Spotlight On Writers
- Where, do you hail from?
I was born in Dallas, Texas but my family moved to a small town in South Georgia named Moultrie. Moultrie hosts the Sunbelt Ag Expo, an annual agricultural trade show, known as “North America’s Premier Farm Show.”™ This event has more than 1200 exhibitors showcasing the latest in farming technology.
The winters are mild, so there are no "white Christmases." Fall is almost nonexistent and our summers are hot and humid. Spring brings about pink and white splashes of color from the blooming azalea and the air is rich with the sweet; heady aroma of Magnolia and honeysuckle.
- What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?
The greatest thing about the place I call home would have to be the love and support of family and friends.
- What turns you on creatively?
I'm inspired by emotions, nature, history, and by the events going on in our world. Music and other artistic elements also inspire my creativity.
- What is your favorite word, and can you use it in a poetic sentence?
My favorite word.. hmm. That is a tough question. Off the top of my head, discombobulated comes first.
Discombobulated by glowing touch screens and social media feeds.
- What is your pet peeve?
My biggest personal pet peeve is for someone to bother me while I am reading or writing. If you see me with a book or pen and paper just back away and go the way you came. 😁
- What defines Chasity Gaines?
I would say that strength and perseverance defines me. Life is unkind to everyone at some point in time, but the Fates have surely dealt me my share of unbearable pain, misery, and loss. But, I always seem to pull the pieces together and push through.
I write poetry, fantasy, and creative non-fiction. I hold a Bachelors in Creative Writing and English from Southern New Hampshire.
I finally gave up on my mundane job to become a full-time writer. I am participating in NaNoWriMo for the first year!
I love to read, write, mediate, listen to music, spend time with family, and relax at the beach.
