Synaptic Seminar

Pull up a pew
Situate yourself beside
my lonesome
Activate your roster of
recriminations
and we’ll play a game of
pin-the-tale-on-the-memory
to hush the plenary
installments of awareness
starving for a shadow
in the brash ubiquity of light-bulb
giveaways ignorant of
anonymity’s spilled consent
We can be a template
for each other’s secret grudges
on a landmine of judgement
numbing revelations
Why are we so fearful
of the circulation of truths?
Absolution wasn’t meant
to work this way
Here
take this ledger of
restricted anecdotes
and shrugged assumptions
of accrued squalor
wanting to be found
As you’re sitting here
for this duration
then your trust I deem applicable
and able to untangle
these accounts illegible
to even my resigned recounts
In each other we can hide
like notes among aloof classmates
if you’re willing
I’ve adorned myself
in an anomaly of invitation
Consider it a shy apology
for making this acquaintance
all about me
Have you come here to this
languid nexus of retorts
in hopes of wringing yours from
your own shriveled diary
in private?
I never was adept
in serving up a choice
yet it’s hard to find the time
when these encounters rival
static shocks of mutual engagement
My auditory inclinations
underline the mute in mutual
acutely straight and singular
I try to no avail
to entrap them in a lesson
of necessities of parallels
and as I’ve failed to articulate
this state again
I’ll simply offer this to you
Vacate your premises
and inwardly campaign for an
essential overlap in time with
my departure and another’s
entry into what would be
an opportune shuffle of conversings
skewered by catharsis into
self-absorbed confessionals
