I haven’t seen
it rain so
hard when
it’s warm like this
she said
standing in
her
nightgown
I have
he said
stripped to the
waist
standing behind
her
lighting a
cigarette
the glow
illuminating
a face in
concentration
once
in Florida, he said
it rained
just like this
he saw
her body shift
beneath the
fabric and placed
his hand
on her waist
exhaling.
it came down
so hard
we pulled
over
to wait out
the rain
