kept poking holes in the ceiling
of his apartment
telling the peeling popcorn sky
that it would feel rejuvenated
20 years younger
while his wife
ran a bath upstairs
with candles
in the
dark
wondering
why her husband
had needed the auger
from under the
sink
in the first
place.
