The Other Side of Xmas

The Other Side of Xmas

It never snows at Christmas
it doesn’t matter what the songs all say
some folks are cold and miserable
and the heavy clouds, dirty grey
pseudo happy adverts
create anxiousness and pain
and stress from expectant children
competing with their peers, again

There’s really no fun, no magic
just dig deep and get into debt
struggle to pay back through next year
through toil and tears and sweat
when you hear ‘happy Christmas’
remember it’s not, for everyone
some people dread this time of year
if not you, smile, you’re a lucky one.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

A lot of people dread the festive season and I think we should recognise and offer support to those members of society.
