  1. Where, do you hail from?

I come from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh in India. I completed my schooling there. I currently live in Bangalore and work in IT industry.

  1. What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?

I grew up in that small city. I have spent my entire childhood there. My parents still live there. Whenever I go back, I try to relive my entire childhood when the time was much simpler. I love the people there. They are so kind and honest. Unlike the rest of the world, the people there are so generous and sensitive to other living beings. They believe in small and simple things which makes them one hell of a human being.

  1. What turns you on creatively?

To be honest, I don’t know. It’s a blood rush and I must write in that very moment else I’ll lose that precious thought. If I really must name, then I’ll say night. I just believe that I am my true, vulnerable self at night especially after 2 AM. I have written most of my writeups that time. Self-loathing is at its peak, emotions are strongest and it’s quiet everywhere.

  1. What is your favorite word, and can you use it in a poetic sentence?

Restlessness.
The following is a line from one of my poems, 2:30 AM:

Restlessness was just revisiting him like an old, forgotten friend.

  1. What is your pet peeve?

I hate mockery. I loathe all those who mock people for their thoughts and writing. No one has the right to make fun of anyone’s writing especially if that work is related to the writer’s life’s own experience.

  1. What defines Pranjal Srivastava?

Writing. I know absolutely nothing other than this. I am nothing but my thoughts. I love and hate it at the same time. Love it because that’s the only thing I know. Hate it because I don’t value it myself. I’m more of a non-practicing one, most of the times. It makes me visit those locked doors which I never want to open.
