The Artist Walking To Work

The Artist Walking To Work

written by: Pardee Lowe Jr.

At first glance
the picture busy
a paradox given the work’s title
and the apparent
lack of motion
elsewhere.
Tall trees fade slowly
into the distance.
One has a leaf or two
another already bare of leaves
autumn-yellow, littered, inert
on the path below.
Elsewhere colors muted suggest fall
and the artist
scarely stands out
What highlights him?
a single element—
His shadow.
