Love at First Bite

Love at First Bite

written by: Cindy Georgakas

Throw me to the winds,
beast of my heart, the rapture
of my soul, engulf me
whole.

Hold me close where your
teeth drew blood when
you kissed me that never
tasted so sweet.

My veins have calcified
and turned blue where red
once meant love, since
you’ve been gone.

Dreams of a trillion moons
and star piercing lullabies
where Persephone grew
her own song.

strengthened my resolve
where I can bleed red
again instead of drowning,
waiting, wearing blue satin.
