Bloodrush

Bloodrush

written by: Cass Wilson

I want to throw myself to the wolves
To lie exposed upon the wooded ground
Eyes wide, staring up at the tallest of trees
Nothing but the rush of blood in my ears
Pounding a steady beat of regret
To mask my impending death cry
Imminent as the alpha creeps close
Cautious yet unafraid
Too hungry to linger
Too eager am I
To feel the wickedly pointed teeth
Tear into my treacherous flesh
My foolish heart stops beating
My synapses close down
My worthless mind, extinguished
I cease to be.
