A Question for Miss Prufrock

A Question for Miss Prufrock

written by: Johnch

Come walk with me to our lilac fields
We can take the cobbled lane
Past the rambled roses scenting the air
Till the stile where white lilies stand
There we can climb with ease, avoid
The snatching rose thorn’s hurt.

With picnic hamper on the rug
Under the oak tree’s dappled shade
I can open the champagne, a toast:
I can choose the green rug so its colour
Does not rob the lilac field.

To take you in my arms
Hold your warmth close to me
Taste the champagne residue lingering
On your lips, your breath
Would you take this walk with me?

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

I wrote this after reading T S Eliot’s Alfred J Prufrock poem, where decisions are delayed, and questions are not raised at all
