An Undiffused Bomb She Is

To the little girl victim of a bomb-blast
An undiffused bomb she is!
A stream of molten lava she guards!
Reining her toy-horse behind
A bombarded castle of cards!
The remnants of her last giggle
Stick fast in red mire!
Beside a baffling spider’s web,
To blame life as a liar!
On the south coast of her heart,
A hurricane harbors like coil
The red-rose-plot raises black
And wishes the spoil of the soil!

Ms Anjali Sahoo has done her Master’s degree in English. She is a bilingual poetess, writing in Odia and English. She translates her own Odia poems into English too. Her published works include three poetry collections and a single short story collection in Odia. She continues to contribute her English poems to anthologies published nationally and internationally. She lives in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
