Basement
written by: Todd Humes
the
basement
is
where
I
bury
myself
from
today’s
chaos
it’s
dark
damp
and
moldy
but
the
pipes
all
around
me
flush
away
the
noise
of
social media
protesting
looting
right
from
wrong
masks
confusion
ignorance
all
I
have
is
silence
and
even though
down
here
it
may
be
toxic
for
now
I
can
breathe
