I survived through a cage
– an ominous cage,
in which
through the bars
dreams forced their way through
in a way, of my world,
in a way, of my safety.

My – once – homeless plans,
today even have windows
overlooking freedom.

I know that if then,
this ordinary-extraordinary Hans
in a faded-out German uniform
did not see me as a person,
I would cease to live.

Anyway,
it doesn’t matter.

After these years, even
– evil became scrubby

Przeżyłem dzięki klatce
– złowróżbnej klatce,
w której
przez pręty przeciskały się marzenia
niby mojego świata,
niby bezpieczeństwa.

Moje – kiedyś – bezdomne plany,
dzisiaj mają nawet okna
z widokiem na wolność.

Wiem, że gdyby wtedy,
ten zwykły-niezwykły Hans
w wypłowiałym niemieckim mundurze
nie zobaczył we mnie człowieka,
przestałbym żyć.

Zresztą,
to już nieważne.

Po latach już nawet
– zło skarłowaciało –
