Changing Steps

Don’t fight the old
but focus on the new
Step forward
or remain in the same place
If there is no challenge
there is no change
So, today,
I let my right foot
Fall last
as I descended the stairwell.
My left knee locking,
burning, grinding
Bone on bone
Nose on floor
Inevitable change
Unnecessary steps.
