Charade

written by: Rochelle Foles

@shellilouwho

Tucked in                among the                 chicken bones
                                                                frozen peas

and silicone cradled                           bulging cubes of ice
you think I’m blind to your secret
                 labeled in red

                I AM NOT

 perhaps
if you could hold your own        your delusion might play out

                but you ignore
                         tell yourself fairy stories
so you can dive in sans conscious
you deny                       you black out the all too real fact

THIS IS NOT MY FIRST RODEO

continue to play this charade                with me as the losing team
and it won’t be my wrath that welcomes you home

it will be a silent house

Rochelle Foles

Rochelle began writing at the age of twelve. Encouraged by her local librarian, she cut her poetic teeth on ee cummings, T.S. Eliot, Walt Whitman and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, all of whom continue to influence her writing today.

She is a logophile and her playful attitude towards words can often be seen in her writing through her use of fonts, space, spelling and design.

She considers it a privilege to be read and to be an active contributor to Spillwords.
