Fluoxetine Dreams
written by: Amel Bashford
I’ll be dead by the morning
So please hold me till the dawn
By the time you rise from your slumber
My weary soul will be long gone
The night is out to get me
I swear I can feel it in my bones
If I were to close my jaded eyes
You would surely wake up alone
Suddenly the dawn is upon me
And still I linger on in vain
How many more times must I endure
This pointless paranoid charade
But I’m afraid tonight I am certain
Though last night I could have sworn
That I’ll be dead by the morning
So please hold me till the dawn
