Hope Dances

written by: Josie Dee

Hope dances,
In the breath between
Desire & despair

She trips the balance,
Delicately
Enticingly pirouetting
Between lie & love

‪Her ballet ribboned shoes‬
‪Tread tentatively‬,
Tiptoes & eggshells‬
‪Like fractured glass‬

In precarious dreams‬
‪She leads triumphantly‬

I accept in her tentativity
I endure her precariousness
Because I delight in her triumph
Or at least in the hope of it

I hope,
In hope -
Herself.
Delightedly.

Since 2012 I have written plays using Shakespeare's language and framework to create new adaptations of his work for a touring theatre company.
