Never Caught My Shore

I desire to fly
and fly but like heavy rain,
it doesn’t listen.
Looking for shelters that no one offers.
I’m floating in tears sinking into fears: I never caught my shore.
I tried, I tried drinking that water,
but it was salty like a betrayed lover.
I tried to shout at the waves,
they were unstoppable and deep like graves.
Like I was their food I never caught my shore.
Then came a ray on my way,
This ray comforted me to the end till I reached a land of peace.
Sunil Saroa is a teacher, a short story writer, a poet, and an essayist. He's a learner too. He learns something new every day! Whether it is writing stories, teaching students, or reading books and reviewing them, it's just what he likes to do. He can be a content writer too. He holds an MA in English from Panjab University, Chandigarh '22. Currently he's working as a reader at Longleaf Review, Florida, USA.
