Ode to The Radio

Ode to The Radio

written by: Nina Taylor

Not for me that high tech stuff
My trusty radio is plenty enough.
From earliest days back in the past
Radio was my biggest blast.
That big old wireless took pride of place
For Listen with Mother and Steven Race.
Then pirate radio sent out tunes
To transistor radios in teenagers’ rooms.
Time spent abroad, a chance to roam.
But World Service radio was a link to home.
Lockdown threatened the collywobbles
But radio stopped me losing my marbles.
So TV and Laptop, well they’re okay
But DAB is with me everyday.
